Safeguarding Policy

The OEE believes that everyone has a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children and young people, and signs to oee.tutorbird.com – the official student portal for updating best practice.

We will seek to keep children and young people safe by:

Valuing, listening to and respecting them;

Recruiting and selecting staff and volunteers safely, ensuring all necessary checks are made;

Recording, storing and using information professionally and securely, in line with data legislation and guidance.

All OEE tutors have to complete our OEE Teacher assessment scheme, devised in consultation with our Board of Professional Advisors, and receive ongoing feedback and supervision. All tutors follow the detailed tutor notes in our classes to ensure the material is delivered in a uniform manner. All tutors undergo DBS checks.

OEE CODE OF CONDUCT

In order to ensure a productive learning environment in our workshops, all participants in our workshops are required to adhere to the following Code of Conduct:

We require all participants to follow these 3 rules:

Listen in silence when the tutor gives instructions and feedback and to follow tutor instructions promptly.

Students shall use the “raise hand” button of the Zoom if they wish to answer a question; in that case, the student may unmute themselves to answer if the tutor permits it.

To complete homework in time with the best effort. Children are expected not to plagiarise under any condition.

OEE Online Safety Rules:

Our tutors running the online sessions are all DBS checked and will have completed an OEE online training course. Our online safety rules are set out below:

Before each lesson, you will receive a Zoom meeting ID and passcode via email and/or text message. A tutor will be admitting each participant to join the lesson, and the Zoom name MUST match the first name of the participant on our register to be allowed to attend.

Screens and microphones are activated as soon as participants join the main room, so be prepared for this.  Be aware of what is showing in your background throughout the session.

We disable screen sharing by anyone other than the tutors in the session.  We enable chat boxes, so students can only communicate in both verbally and in message.

We record or store each session to a secure cloud space for parent review and training purpose, and participants are not allowed to take pictures or record the workshops.  Parents can request the video in which their children are recorded but it is not allowed to share with others or put to public.

We will ask you to activate your camera so everyone can see who is talking to them. You can choose a virtual background, to mask the background of your room, so long as the background is not disturbing.

We expect a parent or guardian to be present during the session, but not visible on screen.  Parents/guardians remain responsible for participants under 16 during the online workshops and are expected to be aware of what is showing both on and in the background of the screen.

Tutors will remove participants from the meeting room if anything inappropriate is shown or heard in their backgrounds.
